Witnesses reported seeing a group of young boys running away from the scene at Turnkey Park after the shooting. According to the Kent Police Department, the shooting happened at Turnkey Park on 100th Avenue Southeast just after 9 p.m. The boy was shot in the abdomen then taken to a nearby apartment complex. Police then received 911 calls and responded to the apartment, where they tried to provide life-saving aid, but the boy died at the scene.
