Description
The initiative to raise Renton's minimum wage is passing after an initial round of election returns were released Feb. 13.
After an initial round of ballot returns on Tuesday, the initiative had an approval rating of 58% to 42%. These returns are from ballots that were turned in early and tabulated.
If the initiative passes, it would raise the minimum wage to $20.29 an hour for employees working for large businesses and $18.29 for employees of smaller businesses. Businesses with fewer than 15 workers would be exempt unless they have an annual gross revenue of more than $2 million.
