Seattle Fire Department (SFD) crews were working early on New Year's Day to contain a large blaze that grew into a 3-alarm fire at a vacant building. The building, located in Seattle's First Hill neighborhood at 823 Madison Street, is a four-story vacant structure, KING 5 confirmed at the scene. "When you bring in the new year, you expect to wake up the next morning going, 'Okay, it's going to be a great day.' But you look up and see this happening, it's a whole different feeling, that's for sure," said neighbor Howard Russell, who woke up to the sirens. "It's time to tear that building down. It's time to start all over, start fresh and get it taken care of."
