Description

A community is mourning after learning one of Tacoma's most well-known youth volunteers died on Tuesday. On Dec. 14, "Big Chris" Cherry was found shot multiple times just after 3:30 a.m. on South State Street, near Bates Technical College. Cherry, 24, was taken to the hospital for treatment. After two weeks in critical condition, he died Tuesday morning. Cherry's death is Tacoma's 31st homicide of the year.
