Seattle's Department of Transportation is losing out on over $1 million because of what the City of Seattle is calling a "clerical error and administrative oversight." A city ordinance passed in the council and signed by the mayor at the end of 2022 increased vehicle license fees from $40 to $50. According to the ordinance, the money is supposed to fund public safety improvements and collection would start no later than July 1 of this year.
