Description
Habitat for Humanity of Seattle-King & Kittitas Counties (SKC) has built a new community on Capitol Hill in Seattle.
The five-story condo building will be home to 13 first-time homeowners on Saturday.
Habitat for Humanity SKC CEO Brett D’Antonio says the building is a first for the organization and a great way to bring the neighborhood together.
“When most people think about Habitat, they think about volunteers swinging a hammer and they think about single-family homes,” D'Antonio said.
He says home ownership is becoming out of reach for more and more buyers across King County.
The new project is the first of Habitat’s mid-rise style buildings to be completed and features 13 condominiums that will house qualified individuals and families living under 80% of the area's median income.
“This gives people a chance at homeownership in the city where they work and the kids go to school,” says D’Antonio.
