Description
Two Puyallup officers sustained minor injuries after police exchanged gunfire Tuesday with a barricaded suspect, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department (PSCD).
The suspect surrendered peacefully after nearly six hours barricaded in the apartment.
Police were called to the River Trail Apartments at around 1:17 p.m. for a domestic violence incident, according to PCSD.
According to police, the man showed up at his ex-girlfriend's house and was hiding in her closet, violating a domestic violence no-contact order. He also had confirmed felony and misdemeanor domestic violence warrants out for his arrest at the time of the incident.
When police responded, the man began yelling at them. There was an exchange of gunfire around 2:36 p.m. The shooting stopped at 3 p.m.
The 37-year-old suspect was taken to the hospital for an injury to his hand, according to police.
