Three people were killed early Tuesday morning after a shooting at a Yakima convenience store, Yakima Police Chief Matt Murray confirmed. According to Yakima police, the suspect, 21-year-old Jarid Haddock died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. In a video posted to the Yakima Police Department Facebook page, Murray said officers responded to a call around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday of a shooting at a Circle K in the intersection of South 18th Street and East Nob Hill Boulevard. Then, around 2:16 p.m., police responded to a 911 call related to the suspect in the Circle K shooting. When officers approached the suspect, they heard gunshots. They found the suspect with a gunshot wound and provided medical aid. Officers did not use force in the incident, Murray said. During a press conference, Yakima police said the suspect used a bystander's cellphone to call his mother and made "several" incriminating remarks. He told her, "I killed those people," then said he was going to kill himself. The suspect's family has been cooperative in the investigation, according to police. No officers were injured. Police said the shooting was believed to be random. The suspect approached the store and opened fire on people standing outside. He then returned to his car and fired multiple rounds into his own window because he locked his keys in the car. No victims have been identified. This is a developing story.
