Description
South Africa’s land reform was thrust into the limelight when United States President Donald Trump falsely accused Pretoria of seizing white-owned land. A successful collaboration in Matsamo county between new and former owners refutes the America leader's claims of unfair treatment. Bernard Shabangu's farm is one such example. Despite his ancestors' land being dispossessed in the Apartheid era, he has chosen to focus on the positive. "We felt that chasing away the whites who used to run this farm would be counterproductive, " he says. The sentiment is echoed by a former land owner James Chance who now manages a joint venture. "There's two parties holding hands, one party's got the skills which they're transferring, and the other party's got the land," he says. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
