Description
Dozens of women demonstrate to demand that ruling party representative Cuauhtemoc Blanco, a three-times World Cup player with the Mexican national football team, be tried on charges of sexual abuse.
Chanting "Out with Cuauhtemoc" and painting "Stop Impunity" on a road, activists are calling for Blanco to be stripped of the immunity he enjoys as a federal legislator so that he can face the accusations of sexual abuse brought by his half-sister, Nidia Blanco.
"Beyond the anger we feel, it is a collective pain, the mockery that a corrupt and sexist system dares to use a jurisdiction to protect an alleged aggressor," says Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, mayor of the Cuauhtemoc district in Mexico City. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
