Description
South Sudanese break their fast during Ramadan inside Freedom Hall, a venue in the nation’s capital, Juba, as the spectre of renewed war looms over the city and the country. Increased confrontation in recent weeks between rival factions, who fought each other in the 2013-2018 civil war, has left everyone on edge. Clashes that began in the northeast of the country have now spread to other regions. “We are worried because we know what war means,” says one resident, adding, “We have been through this before. We hope that we will not go through this again.” IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
