Description
Dancers from the Central African Republic's (CAR) National Ballet rehearse traditional moves and steps from the country's mosaic of ethnic groups in the capital Bangui. In so doing, they aim to preserve the heritage of this country that is scarred by decades of conflict, instability and extreme poverty. "Traditional dance has brought us together. After the recent wars, different ethnic groups were divided. Through these traditional dances, everyone from different ethnic groups, we are all united," says Intelligentsia Oualou, one of the troupe's 62 dancers. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
