Description
As bad weather and diseases affect cocoa supplies worldwide, sending prices soaring, farmers in southwest Nigeria say they are now facing increasing threats-- theft and kidnappings. "Not only farmers are being attacked, they attack even the exporters as they are moving their cocoa beans from the warehouse to the port," says Patrick Adebola, Executive director at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria."Those are the ripple effects of the sudden increase in the value of cocoa beans."
