Description
At rapid intervals, chunks of melted incandescent glass are shaped to give birth to the iconic Dior, Chanel, or Guerlain perfume bottles, now slightly more eco-friendly thanks to the arrival of an electric furnace at the Pochet du Courval glassworks factory in northern France. Nestled for 400 years in the Bresle Valley, the factory produces one million perfume and beauty bottles and jars every day. Until recently, they were produced using three gas-fired furnaces, releasing carbon emissions into the atmosphere. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
