Checking olive trees in southern Spain, Isabel Matas Sanchez is among those hit by a new 20 percent US tariff on olive oil. "I think it is going to make everything much more difficult," she says, explaining that the US market "represents an opportunity for growth" in olive oil, of which Spain is the world's main producer and exporter. The tariffs, many of which come into force on April 9, will affect around 80 percent of Spain's exports of more than 18.6 billion euros to the United States, according to Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo.
