The Cannes Festival "has taken the recommendations" of the French Assembly's investigative commission on violence in the cultural sector "seriously and with determination," says its president, Iris Knobloch, during the presentation of the selection. A French parliamentary inquiry report into the entertainment sector, released on 9 April 2025 and including testimony from 350 industry professionals, urged the industry to end the mistreatment of performers.
