Description
Don Patterson said the Red Cross sweater he wore didn’t just keep him warm, it saved his life. During a firefight in World War II, shrapnel from an enemy bomb ripped into his body. Patterson credits the tightly knitted wool with clotting blood from his wound and the actions of another stranger who pulled him off the battlefield. (Originally aired February 20, 2015)
