Description
While most of the flood alerts have come down by early Monday, we aren't out of the woods just yet! The alerts that remain will be the river/stream flood alerts, as water will continue to drain into these areas for the next couple of days. Flooding impacts and possible closed roads are still possible heading into this week, so continue to use extra caution.
Heading through early Monday scattered light rain and snow showers will continue around Central Ohio before tapering off before sunrise. The good news is that little additional accumulation is expected. Flooding will not be able to recede much for the next 12-24 hours as water continues to collect in rivers and streams. Temperatures will drop well into the low 30s as we head into Monday morning, with some areas expected to drop below freezing. Use caution on bridges/overpasses as some light ice may form on wet surfaces.
Heading through Monday, precipitation will finally move out of Ohio. Expect a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky during the morning and afternoon, and highs will reach the mid-50s, just shy of our average in the low-60s. A weak disturbance will arrive Monday evening, increasing cloud cover and possibly bringing a quick rain/snow mix. Again, no accumulation is expected.
Tuesday morning will feel like winter again with widespread frost and lows in the mid-20s as our sky clears. A freeze watch will be in place from late Monday through Tuesday morning as well. We will have a sunny Tuesday afternoon, but the strong northern wind flow will only allow highs in the low-40s. Wednesday morning will also be cold with lows in the mid to upper-20s under a clear sky.
Wednesday afternoon will feel a bit warmer, reaching the low-50s as clouds increase. Another rainmaking system will arrive late Wednesday evening and will bring light rain throughout Thursday. A few wet snowflakes are possible when the system arrives Wednesday evening, but no accumulation is expected. This will bring some warmer temperatures Thursday afternoon with highs in the mid-50s.
Showers will linger Friday morning before tapering off in the afternoon. Temps will remain steady in the low-50s Friday and mid-50s Saturday as drier weather is expected for the weekend. Highs may reach the 60s again by Sunday.
Bundle up for the start of the week Central Ohio!
