Description
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) operations chief Yasmine Praz Dessimoz calls on all sides in Myanmar's civil war to extend a truce declared after last month's magnitude-7.7 quake in order to facilitate aid handouts.
The March 28 quake killed more than 3,600, destroyed over 5,000 buildings and has pushed two million people into reliance on aid, according to the United Nations. Conflict monitors say fighting has continued during the truce, due to expire on April 22, but the ICRC has said any lull in fighting is critical to helping quake victims. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
