Description
In May 2024, Las Vegas police were called to check on two dogs tethered inside a parked minivan in the heat. It was nearly 100 degrees outside, and a 110 degrees in the vehicle.
After trying to find the owners at the apartment complex, police broke a window and rescued the two dogs. They were taken to a shelter after being evaluated and treated.
The dogs were rescued just in time as heat can become deadly in mere minutes. There are various state and local laws protecting pets.
For example, some laws prohibit leaving an animal without food, fresh water and cooling devices when temperatures exceed 105 degrees.
