Description
Feather headdresses, necklaces, body painting and traditional dance: this ritual does not take place in the Amazon, but on a football field in Brasilia, for the first Indigenous national championship.
Brazil's passion for football runs deep in the Indigenous population, in a country where one of the most legendary footballers, Garrincha, double world champion in 1958 and 1962, was the son of a member of the Fulni-ô people.
With the UN climate conference to be held in November in the Amazonian city of Belem, some of these communities have decided to use the sport to make their voices heard. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
