Description
Indigenous representatives from Brazil, Canada, Colombia, African countries, and other regions gather in front of Brazil's Foreign Ministry to call for a "just energy transition," months ahead of COP30, set to take place in Belem in November 2025.
"We're here today to demand a just, equitable, and fair transition—and to ensure Indigenous peoples are at the forefront of it," says a representative from Canada. "We are the first to be impacted, and yet, many times, not the first to be heard," adds a leader from the Brazilian Amazon.
According to protesters, part of the banner they hold was painted using ashes from the recent fires that affected the Amazon. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
