Description
KHOU 11 Sports Anchor Jason Bristol and former scout Jeremy Booth provide their unique perspective on the Houston Astros, big league baseball and scouting amateur and professional players in this regularly scheduled podcast.
On this edition of Extra Bases (6.20), Booth reports the Angels interviewed Ron Washington for nine hours on November 7 before hiring him as their new manager. It's a missed opportunity for the Astros, Booth claims. But Bristol wonders how much success Washington will have running a team which finished 17.0 games out of first place.
Future Hall of Fame manager Dusty Baker mentioned “bloggers and tweeters” as one of the reasons for his retirement from field managing. Booth says the rest of the league is watching and, moving forward, that 'group' may hurt the Astros' ability to hire good baseball people.
Plus, what are the chances Yainer Diaz suffers a sophomore slump in 2024 as the Astros' new, every day catcher?
