Description
The Oregon State Legislature is nearly halfway through its session, and Gov. Tina Kotek is monitoring progress addressing housing and homelessness. With a $2 billion budget proposal to work on the issues for the next two-year period, it's a top priority for the governor.
This session, Kotek said she has bills that cut red tape and move construction along at a faster pace without cutting corners. The governor is also the driving force behind House Bill 2138, which would expand the development of a variety of housing options in existing neighborhoods, called middle housing. Middle housing builds multiple units, often on lots that previously held a larger single-family home, and the governor wants to see more of it across the state.
