March 5 on The Story: An accused fentanyl trafficker pleaded guilty in federal court this week for selling fentanyl pills which caused the death of Griffin Hoffmann, a 16-year-old student of McDaniel High School, in March 2022. Hoffmann overdosed on a single blue "M30" counterfeit oxycodone pill, which investigators later traced back to Manuel Antonio Souza Espinoza, a third-level trafficker in Vancouver. Watching the plea hearing yesterday was Hoffmann's mother, Kerry Cohen, who has been pushing for justice in her son's death and has worked to spread awareness among parents.
