Jan. 16 on The Story: Tuesday marks the beginning of the 2025 legislative session in Oregon, and lawmakers are tasked with addressing some of the state's biggest problems. Most agree that housing construction and homelessness, plus funding for transportation and education, will be high on the list of priorities, as well as figuring out how to better fund the state's forestry and wildland firefighting efforts. But on transportation in particular, ODOT's need for a new and stable source of funding could set up tensions between the Democratic supermajority and a Republican minority with the power to walk out and stall all business, regardless of the consequences.
