In July of last year, the city of Portland finally opened a long-anticipated shelter site focused on homeless people living in vehicles, the Sunderland RV Safe Park. For the folks who stay there now, it was the lifeline they'd been waiting for. But the city now plans to close the site down this coming spring, less than two years after opening.
