Description
Dec. 2 on The Story: On Monday, Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek delivered her budget recommendations for 2025-27, the coming biennium. In it, she highlighted major continued funding for fighting homelessness, speeding up housing development, and creating behavioral health capacity. The biggest new addition is a boost in funding for schools and other learning programs, after a year marked by school district budget cuts and teacher strikes across the state. The state's budget may not be the most riveting topic, but it could be incredibly impactful — if, that is, lawmakers choose to broadly support her agenda when the next legislative session convenes in January.
