Description
Nov. 19 on The Story: With former President Donald Trump returning to the White House and Republicans in control of Congress, Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek and abortion providers in the state are preparing for further potential upsets to reproductive care. Trump's appointees to the U.S. Supreme Court tipped the scales in a 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade — and while Trump has since moderated his rhetoric on abortion, saying he now prefers that states have the power to decide instead of passing a federal abortion ban, recent history has left care providers dealing with the fear and uncertainty of more reversals. Oregon has strong protections in place for abortion, making it a potential destination for those unable to get one in other states.
