Description
Oct. 24 on The Story: With several local congressional races still very much in toss-up territory, the Republicans are pulling out the big guns. Just 12 days from Election Day, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson visited southwest Washington and Clackamas County in support of two candidates — Joe Kent and Congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer — whose races could be critical to his party maintaining control of the House of Representatives. Kent is trying to take Washington's 3rd Congressional District from a Democrat, Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez. Chavez-DeRemer, the incumbent in Oregon's 5th Congressional District, is trying to fight off a challenge from Democratic state lawmaker Janelle Bynum.
