Milton is threatening the Tampa, Florida area with a potential direct hit. The center of the storm could arrive ashore on Wednesday. Almost all of Florida's west coast was under a hurricane warning early Tuesday as the storm's 155 mph winds move toward the state. Milton had intensified rapidly on Monday, becoming a Category 5 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 180 mph before being downgraded.
