Description
Sept. 25 on The Story: More than a week after the news broke that the Oregon DMV mistakenly registered hundreds of noncitizens to vote, state lawmakers received their first official briefing from top officials at the Oregon Department of Transportation and secretary of state's office. Upon closure examination, the DMV now believes 1,259 people who should have been ineligible to vote were accidentally registered, and they have a good idea of how it happened. Nine of those ineligible people actually voted. But in Wednesday's hearing, lawmakers aimed to get a better idea of what state agencies intend to do going forward to ensure that this never happens again — and some questions remain unanswered.
