Description
Sept. 6 on The Story: The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is planning a massive expansion in its location on the east side of the Willamette River, and it goes well beyond the science center itself. OMSI owns about a mile-long stretch along the river, and this new vision for the future involves the development of some 24 acres for a number of uses. It could be another decade before the OMSI District is completed, but plans involve 1,200 units of new housing, a new waterfront park, and centers for science learning, climate action and tribal nations, to name a few of the new additions. And this week, Portland City Council determined to invest in the concept, pitching in over $15 million to get the project going.
