Description
May 15 on The Story: In the early '90s, Andrew Wiederhorn was the image of a Portland-born success story. He became a self-made millionaire at a young age, buying a mansion in the West Hills for himself and his family. But that all came crashing down by the 2000s, when federal prosecutors indicted Wiederhorn, accusing him of taking on bogus loans that were never repaid — essentially converting them to income that he never paid taxes on. Wiederhorn was convicted, spending 14 months in prison. Even if his reputation in Portland suffered for it, Wiederhorn's business career was just beginning. He arguably became a bigger deal in California after getting out of prison. But a recent round of federal indictments allege that he has been up to his old tricks, just in a new venue.
