April 29 on The Story: April is almost over, but the year is just getting started for Multnomah County's budget. With that on the horizon, County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson on Monday delivered the annual "State of Multnomah County" address, her second since being elected to that role in 2022. Some of the county's biggest challenges earn mentions in her speech: homelessness, addiction, mental health treatment and child care costs, to name a few. The county has made progress on all of those things, Vega Pederson said, and must continue making progress over the next year. But how much progress has been made and how much more to go?
