April 1 on The Story: Just a few weeks ago, news staff at KGW and from every one of our sister stations throughout the U.S. attended a training on disinformation and artificial intelligence. The main takeaway is pretty easy to summarize: AI is developing extremely rapidly, and there are a number of ways it can be used to spread false information that will disrupt the 2024 election. Instead of just learning from that training and employing it ourselves, we decided it would be good to share some of what we learned with you — helping you spot AI deepfakes and perhaps play a role in stopping the spread of disinformation.
