Description
March 27 on The Story: Portland city government is getting a massive overhaul next year, starting with the election this November. Voters will elect all members of a newly expanded city council, including a brand new mayor — and homelessness will inevitably be one of the biggest topics over the course of campaign season. KGW is sitting down with Portland's mayoral candidates to ask them about their plans to tackle homelessness. Tonight, it's Rene Gonzalez, the candidate who's distinguished himself during a relatively short stint in local politics for law and order policies and his tough rhetoric on homelessness. That's not about to change, because Gonzalez wants to pull Portland out of the Joint Office of Homeless Services if they don't make some "real improvements."
