Description
March 19 on The Story: A few months ago, The Story visited Morrow and Umatilla counties in eastern Oregon for a series we called "Tainted Waters," exploring the decades-old problem of well water being contaminated with harmful nitrates. Despite the fact that state regulators have been overseeing the issue since 1990, it hasn't improved — in fact, it's gotten worse. Recently, Pat Dooris finally had the chance to sit down with Leah Feldon, director of the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, to talk about the problem of nitrate contamination in the region and what her agency is doing to address it.
