Feb. 6 on The Story: For months now, a group lawmakers in Salem have been meeting and taking testimony as they try to overhaul drug policy and the response to addiction in Oregon. On Monday, they held their first meeting of the 2024 legislative session — and now they're working on the specifics of the bill that they hope to pass. One thing that seems fairly certain: decriminalization of drug possession is going away, even if Measure 110 isn't fully repealed. But to what degree possession will be re-criminalized and with what other components is largely still up for debate. Tonight we're walking through a couple of the proposed changes and taking the temperature of what lawmakers are saying as the process gets underway.
