Jan. 31 on The Story: Despite efforts to rescue AMR's dismal ambulance response times in Multnomah County, they only seem to have gotten worse. KGW investigative reporter Evan Watson acquired staffing data from AMR showing levels from throughout 2023. During that time, turnover outpaced hiring: AMR brought in 32 paramedics last year. It lost 44. Watson spoke to a paramedic who said that burnout is a major reason for the continued bleed among Multnomah County's paramedics — and it's only getting worse the more people they lose.
