Description
Jan. 9 on The Story: A lawsuit filed more than eight years ago by 21 young Oregonians against the federal government over the impacts of climate change looks to be finally headed for trial. Juliana v. U.S. began back in 2015, but it's been delayed by countless motions and months of settlement talks. But in late December, a U.S. District Court judge ruled against the Justice Department's most recent attempt to have the case thrown out, signaling that the plaintiffs have a chance to succeed. That said, this is far from the first time that the case has been close to trial. For the plaintiffs, however, this is a good sign that they'll finally have their voices heard in court.
