Description
Jan. 3 on The Story: At the low end, the project to replace the aging I-5 bridges linking Portland and Vancouver is expected to cost $6 billion. If estimates from project organizers hold true, the largest single source of that funding will have to be the federal government, from which they hope to source about $2.5 billion. To that end, Washington's U.S. Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell have been pivotal in helping set the project up for success. The Story's Pat Dooris got a chance to talk briefly with both of them during a visit they made Wednesday to Vancouver to tour the old bridge and talk about efforts to secure federal funding.
