Jan. 2 on The Story: In November of 2022, Portland voters signaled that they were sick and tired of business as usual at city hall, approving a sweeping charter reform measure that promised a major overhaul of the way the city government functions for the first time in over a century. We're now just under a year away from when that all comes to fruition — but according to the architect of Portland's transition, it ideally won't happen all at once. Mike Jordan is the city's chief administrative officer, and he was saddled with the herculean task of seeing this through.
