Newly obtained dashcam footage shows a Portland man plowing past blockades and nearly hitting several people including small children along the Rose Festival’s Grand Floral parade route in June. Prosecutors submitted the dramatic video, taken from Sidney Mecham’s own dash cams, as evidence during an August preventative detention hearing. ODOT crews had blocked off numerous exits to help keep traffic away from the parade route. Mecham is heard getting agitated by the closures and heavy traffic. The video shows Mecham driving through a row of barricades and nearly hitting people along the parade route. Officers tried to stop him several times, but he got away. He eventually stopped and was arrested. Mecham pleaded not guilty to 38 counts, including felony unlawful use of a weapon and attempting to elude an officer. He's currently being held in the Multnomah County Inverness Jail.
