Oct. 17 on The Story: After suffering a brain injury in 2015 while working as a special education teacher, former Miss Oregon Emily Cadiz struggled to even speak. It was through her love of music that she was able to heal — and now she uses that passion to teach young children how to read through the story of a singing dragon. Finnegan the Singing Dragon is the adventure-based preschool curriculum that Cadiz came up with, focused on early language and literacy development. It includes a book, an interactive gaming system where children sing along with Finnegan, and even features a plush stuffed version of the loveable blue dragon.
