Description
Sept. 18 on The Story: Along the Oregon Coast lie several large patches of ocean where anglers are forbidden from plying their trade. But recently, a few fishers were invited inside the Cape Falcon Marine Reserve and encouraged to cast their lines — for science. The purpose of these reserves is to provide something like a control group for Oregon wildlife officials to study the health of marine species, helping them to determine which problems are local and which are global. KGW environmental reporter Kale Williams got to tag along on this literal fishing expedition to learn more about the study of Oregon's vital fisheries.
