Aug. 15 on The Story: Tonight, it's a tale of two bridges on The Story. We've talked recently about two separate bridge replacement projects over the Columbia River — the Interstate Bridge between Portland and Vancouver, of course, but also the Hood River Bridge upriver. There are a lot of similarities between the two, like the fact that tolling will be a big part of funding either one. But the Interstate Bridge replacement has a much higher price tag. Looking at the particulars of the two projects, we found, can be instructive in finding out where those costs are coming from.
