Description
Historical archaeologist Chelsea Rose will present at Fort Vancouver what has been dug up about Oregon's Chinese heritage.
"Early Oregon especially was a very multi-cultural place. The contribution of these folks to the early economies of the state has largely been lost or under-recognized," said Rose.
She's speaking at the visitor center on the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. The talk is free so register for the Saturday event.
"You know there were Chinese cowboys in Grant County," she said.
The ultimate goal is to bring history back to help make a better future.
"I think really people will go in with one idea of Chinese history in Oregon. And they will come away with another," she said.
