May 15, 2023 on The Story: In November 2020, Oregon voters approved Measure 110 — decriminalizing user amounts of drugs and setting aside funding for drug treatment programs. Just a few months ago, the Canadian province of British Columbia embarked on a similar path, decriminalizing drugs in a three-year pilot program. Around that time, a crew from CBC News visited Portland to find out how Measure 110 has impacted the landscape of drug use and addiction here. We tracked down the journalist who did that reporting to get more insights behind her visit and how Portland compares to Vancouver, B.C.
