Description
May 8, 2023 on The Story: In the little Oregon town of Grand Ronde, there's an even smaller historic building that once housed the local bank. But since 1958 it's sheltered something more precious than money: books. Once a week, 80-year-old Amelie Redman opens up the library for the curious to drop by. Oftentimes her patrons are few and far between. Nonetheless, she's been there every Monday (but one) for a decade — steward of a tradition that began with her mother's generation. Though Redman's been something of a jack-of-all-trades throughout her life, the Grand Ronde Library has become her calling.
